There’s news out that indicates email tracking software and email analytics are not a relic of the past. According to a recent survey, email subscribers still outnumber social media followers by incredibly large margins, giving new hope to email marketers spooked by the growth of social media.
According to recent surveys, the data tells an astonishing tale that might come as a surprise even to those companies heavily involved in both email marketing and social media marketing: marketing email subscribers outnumber Facebook participants 70 to 1, and 90 to 1 with regard to the slightly less popular (albeit no less influential) Twitter.
While this encouraging news should serve to quell the fears of email marketers who have bought into false notions that email as a technology and as an oft-used method of communication by consumers is headed for the great scrap heap of history, it also acts as a reminder of something else: that tools like email marketing software programs are more important than ever before.
The competition in email marketing continues to be severe, and with more high profile companies turning to email analytics as a method of adjusting their efforts to produce higher success rates, the era of “guesstimation” has most assuredly passed.
