Recycle, Reuse, Repackage Content

March 08, 2012

Instead of constantly coming up with new content, why not find ways to recycle, reuse and repackage content you already have? Not only will this save you some time, it also allows those who recently joined your subscriber list to benefit from those great informational gems they missed out on prior to joining.

Recycle Content

Hopefully, you have an external hard drive or someplace safe to store your content. If not, start making copies today. Not only will you need this information in case your website or email account is shut-down due to spam accusations (which happens more often than you think even if you follow the rules), but you can recycle or update it to use again.

When recycling content, it's important to review the content to make sure it's still relevant. For example, if you wrote a piece on mobile phone technology 2011, chances are you will need to update the information as this market moves along very fast.

Update content as necessary to make sure you're still providing quality information before sending a mass email.

Reuse Content

You may be asking yourself if recycling and reusing content is the same - well, yes and no. Recycling involves reworking old content while reusing content means to post it elsewhere.

Reuse recent content on your blog, website or social media pages as not everyone who reads your email visits these marketing channels and vice versa. This is perfectly acceptable as long as the information is updated and relevant to those visiting these pages.

Repackage Content

Depending on how long you've been in the Internet marketing game, you may have thousands (or at least hundreds) of pages of information on file. Why not convert some of the information into an eBook, white paper, case study or compilation of blogs posts?

You can sell this information, offer it as an incentive to sign up for your subscriber list or just give the information away for free to subscribers. In any case, you will be providing valuable stuff in one convenient location. This is great for subscribers who don't have a lot of time to spend reading each email you send.

Breathe new life into older content to see how well it's received by subscribers or visitors to your website. You won't lose anything as this content is probably just sitting there waiting to be used again in a new way.
