Guide to Holiday Email Marketing

It’s a known fact that holiday marketing requires that much more time and effort in today’s competitive marketplace, if you want to rake in the sales you want as a result of increased purchases during this time of year. Everyone is screaming to get heard and chances are that the core offer that you have is probably the same as most of your competitors – so how do you stand out? This post is to give you, the email sender a chance to ensure all your email marketing strategies this season are most effective:

Before you start any of your planned activities, ensure you have all these elements in place:

  1. Identify what you want to achieve – i.e. your goals are the most important way to start planning your email marketing activities for the season
  2. Evaluate your sales vis-à-vis activities from last year’s plan to be able to identify what worked and what went wrong
  3. Get everyone on your team to brainstorm or contribute new ideas – innovation is key and novel ideas can sometimes come from the most unlikely member of your team
  4. Know the specific, important dates in the year-end calendar from Cyber Monday (1st Dec) to Free Shipping Day (15th Dec) to Boxing Day (26th Dec) to be able to plan the correct email content to be released around these dates.
  5. Ideally you may have different incentive options for varying segments based on what you understand about them – if this is the case you should also be releasing your email marketing content to smaller segments for a more personalized message and higher impact as a result.

The last two points above will enable you to better use your bulk email sender during the season. For instance if you are working with a platform like Maxmail you will be able to segment your list and schedule releases in advance minimizing the amount of work you would have to do if it was a manual process. Bulk email senders exist to smoothen the process and the holiday season is the ideal time to invest in a platform if you haven’t done so. Imagine have to manually type in addresses and send out emails to over a 1000 people?

The point is Maxmail and other good bulk emailing services enable you to input information once and it will take over your task from you at that point and take care of the rest leaving you more room to breathe, take a step back and see if your current strategy is working for you.

Take careful note of these points and your seasonal marketing will get the boost it needs to put you ahead in the race this season.
