Time to Reorder!

May 24, 2012

As an Internet marketer or small business owner, you need to take advantage of every point of contact to maintain a good relationship with subscribers. Email campaigns are only successful if you engage frequently with people to inform, educate, advise, and entertain with quality email content. In addition to sending regular messages promoting goods and services, you can also use membership renewal and reorder notices to upsell or promote new products to existing customers.

Did You Know...

Send a membership or reorder notification one month before subscribers need to take action. Include instructions on how to renew or reorder products, along with customer services contact information in case subscribers have questions. At the end of the message, include a short paragraph previewing a new product or service subscribers may be interested in trying. Include a link to preview pages so people can learn even more. You can also include pre-order information along with a small discount to increase orders.

Reorder Soon

Send additional reminder messages to subscribers that have yet to renew or reorder from you. Offer additional discounts or free products to encourage people to place an order. Include links to blogs, product review pages, customer testimonials or social media pages to provide all the information subscribers need to make the decision to keep ordering from you.

Send one reminder message each week after sending an initial renewal/reorder reminder to give subscribers ample opportunity to place an order before time runs out. If subscribers fail to renew/reorder, you can send one final email message explaining the urgency to renew/reorder now.

Follow Up Messages

Take advantage of follow up messages after subscribers renew/reorder from you. Send a message containing a short customer satisfaction survey or simply ask if they are satisfied with their purchase. Provide any additional information along with helpful advice, tips, or links to other resources you're created to help customers use your products or services more effectively.

Upselling

Upselling involves selling more expensive products or services once customers have expressed interest in less expensive items. Use reminder messages to upsell higher end items to those who have already made a purchase. You can also create a separate email campaign to market higher priced products since you've already developed a trusting relationship with these customers.
