Unless you have something new to offer subscribers, it's best not to send random email messages as a reminder to buy your products. Not only is this a waste of time (for you and subscribers), it won't increase sales. People sign up for your mailing list for a variety of reasons. Try to offer only the best advice, tips, information, and products each and every time you send an email message.
Inbox Overcrowding
These days, people receive email from family, friends, coworkers, Internet marketers, online retailers, small businesses, and many others. When you send a random email that doesn't include any new or valuable information, all you're really doing is overcrowding a subscriber's inbox. As a result, you may receive an increase in opt-out requests as people try desperately to reduce the number of messages they receive each day.
Instead, send email content that really matters – this is content subscribers cannot live without and really look forward to. Mix it up by sending video content, eCourses, and guest posts by experts. Send a mix of sales and informational content as well.
Limited Time
How long do you spend reading email content? 20, 30, 40 seconds? Chances are, unless you're really interested, you spend even less than that when scanning a new message. This is another reason why you should limit correspondence with subscribers to times when you have only great content to send. Even on a good day, people have very little time to read each word of an email. Include the most important pieces of information at the beginning of your message. Add links to your website, blog, and social media pages at the top instead of the bottom so people see them.
Boredom
Most subscribers get bored quickly. Maintaining interest in products and services is perhaps the most challenging job an Internet marketer or small business owner has when marketing online. In addition to mixing it up, let subscribers miss you a little bit. Instead of sending three or four messages a week, send one or two mass emails. This gives subscribers time to think about the information you send and allows them to want more. Absence can make the heart grow fonder, so make sure you send enough messages to stay relevant, but hold back just enough to keep subscribers interested.
