Growing Your Mailing List with Twitter

There are plenty of opportunities in every market. The real challenge is how to take advantage of them using the latest tools of the trade.

For email marketers, that means using the latest email marketing software and employing the best marketing strategies. One of the exciting new tools to utilize in today’s market is Twitter. The social media network has evolved from being an online hangout to being the equivalent of a business district with its new eCommerce friendly tools.

Read on to know how you can grow your mailing list with Twitter.

· Promoted Tweets

You can use Promoted Tweets as a form of advertising tool just like others, only in tweet form. Insert a link to your squeeze page where you can offer your email services and promos to users who click the link. Or invite people to take advantage of promos on your website. To use Promoted tweets, you may need to sign in on Twitter’s Business Section apart from your regular Twitter account.

· Budget and Bid Section

Choose the tweet/s you want to upgrade in the Promoted Tweets section. Then set up your daily budget for these promoted tweets in the Budget and Bid section. This will dictate the amount you have to pay each time users click, retweet, reply, or favorite your promoted tweets. Remember to manually turn off your campaign once you’ve run your ad on schedule. Twitter has yet to implement an automatic end date, so you don’t want your ad running indefinitely after your campaign schedule has run its course.

· Lead Generation Cards

Twitter is rolling out Lead Generation Cards to small and medium sized businesses to help in building subscriber mailing lists on the site. As opposed to mass email campaigns, businesses should use this new advertising option to build email lists directly on the Twitter site. Twitter gives out a unique URL that entrepreneurs can paste onto their Twitter Ad Card. The URL lets users subscribe and join your campaign with a single click.

· Track Results

After Twitter rolls out your promoted tweets and lead generation cards, the next thing to remember is to track results. There are two ways to check your progress. First is to go to your account’s Twitter Ads dashboard and check statistics of your promoted tweets. Second, use the Twitter Analytics tool under Traffic Sources. Alternatively, you can also use Google Analytics to track results from your general Twitter traffic.

Use Twitter’s new business-friendly improvements and tools to grow your email list today.
