3 Ways to Use Customer Reviews to Interact with People

June 04, 2012

These days it takes more than a fancy and functional website to make online sales. It takes more than a blog, weekly email message, and a few comments on social media pages. These days, you need to harness a combination of marketing methods to build awareness of your business.

Since technology has made it easier for complete strangers to communicate quickly with each other, leaving product and service reviews on third-party websites and online forums is commonplace. And while you still need that website, blog, email campaign and social media presence, many potential customers will take some time to read what others have to say about you. So instead of waiting for people to find these reviews, why not send people directly to them?

Open to the Public

If you come across online product/service reviews about your business, send these links to email list subscribers. Encourage them to post their own experiences about your business on these review sites. Not only will this help subscribers make up their minds as to whether to buy something from you, it also provides you with free advertising courtesy of those who have made a purchase.

Customer Testimonials

Create a few customer testimonials to post on your website, blog, social media pages or link to email content. Link reviews from other sources so you don't appear biased. Get people talking and commenting on your products/services using these testimonials and reviews.

Creating an atmosphere where people can be honest and express how they really feel will only help your business in the long run -even if some of the comments don't showcase goods and services in the best light. True reviews are a mix of good and not-so-good comments. Unless the comments appear offensive to others, leave them alone and let your loyal customer base defend you - in most cases, they will, and very quickly.

Surveys/Polls

Surveys and polls are a form of customer review. Send surveys/polls to those on your list and ask questions about your products, services, and overall shopping experience. Post the results on your website, social media or blog page. Ask people for feedback concerning the results. This is another great way to interact with potential and existing customers.
