New Maxmail Feature Double Opt-In

Maxmail is offering all customers the chance of increasing the effectiveness of email campaigns through the new feature of double opt-in. Email marketers are constantly using the term ‘opt-in’ (messages which are sent only upon the recipients permission), while others talk about ‘double opt-in’ (also referred to as ‘confirmed opt-in’) as if it were a completely different thing. But is it really? Below are the key differences between the new Maxmail feature of double opt-in and (single) opt-in:

- Email addresses on an (single) opt-in list are not confirmed. Anybody can submit anybody’s address to the list, and it will be there until it is unsubscribed.
-
On a double opt-in list, all email addresses must be confirmed before the recipient is added. A request for confirmation is sent to the submitted address and the address owner must take some action to confirm that he/she is the owner of the email address, the address is working and she indeed wants to subscribe.
- Most often, the confirmation action is as simple as replying to the confirmation request or clicking on a link.

The advantages of the double opt-in method are vast and prove effective for any email marketing campaign. Essentially, when you use the double opt-in method, you’re targeting only those subscribers who really want to hear from you. Double opt-in lists have much higher engagement levels over time, which translates to more ‘opens’ and ‘clicks’ and fewer bounces and unsubscribes.

Friends, and co-workers etc. won’t be able to sign up other people who didn’t give permission to be added to your list. This means your campaign will receive fewer spam complaints and a healthier list overall.

If a person or ‘malicious bot’ enters an email address with a typo, you won’t accidentally send a campaign to a recipient who never opted-in or to an email address that could bounce. For instance, people won’t be able to sign up with fake or non-existent email addresses. They have to have a valid email address to opt-in.

Having a double opt-in feature, by and large, protects you from scammers signing up to your list and then ‘reporting’ your emails as spam. At Maxmail, we collect IP information from a new subscriber when they sign up, to ensure you have proof that they confirmed their interest in your list.

Through using the double opt-in process, as an email marketer you are further securing your email lists. The Maxmail double opt-in process allows you to have email lists full of validated clientele who are genuinely interest in your products and offers.
