Regardless as to whether you’re using an email auto responder or committing your email marketing efforts to broadcast messages; you’re still undoubtedly going to wonder what day of the week is best to send your email to get maximum opens, clicks, and conversions. Plenty of study and research efforts have gone into discovering the answer, which you’re going to learn here.
Getting Your Messages Read
The beginning of the typical work week is the best time to kick on your high volume email client and start sending out your messages, so long as you’re going for the highest open rates. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday usually get the highest response in opened emails. These days are ideal if you’re sending out a message with free beneficial information for your subscribers, or if you’ve got a newsletter that goes out once per week to your followers.
Do note that getting your bulk emails read doesn’t mean that your promotions within the emails – if any – are going to receive more clicks. As it turns out, most people will read through their emails on Monday, but they rarely click on any promotions they’ve received. In a sense, it’s just time for reading, catching up, and cleaning out the inbox for your subscribers. So if you’ve got content you want read that has no promotions or ads, then Monday works fine for an email delivery date.
Getting Your Promotions Clicked
This works just the opposite of getting your messages read. While bulk emailing early in the week will get your messages opened more, mass emailing on the weekend will often draw the highest click-through rates. People feel an elevated sense of freedom as the weekend comes up, and so they feel they have more personal time to really dig into any emails they’re interested in, rather than having to send it to the recycle bin to focus on work emails instead.
Narrowing it Down
As the week progresses the scale tends to slide a bit more from more opens but less click-through rates, to less opens but more click-through rates. If you want a strong balance then use your bulk email sender to broadcast to your list’s inboxes on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Another thing to consider is time. Don’t go email blasting lists first thing in the morning, because most people are going to be decluttering their inbox and your emails are probably going to get lost in the process. Send your messages in the afternoon, because once your reader’s day is off and moving they tend to have a higher response rate.
So now you have a better understanding as to what day of the week is best to send your email, as well as what time you should be sending out your messages.
