Last Minute Deals

May 24, 2012

One way to increase sales quickly is to offer a last minute deal. These deals typically have a very short time span and provide products and services at a discount. And, you don't have to wait until the holidays or end of the year to offer these deals.

Limited Time Only!

The goal of a last minute deal is to generate immediate interest and encourage sales. If subscribers think they only have a day or less to make a purchase, they are more apt to do so immediately if they really want to buy something. To spark interest and push people into buying a product or signing up for a service, host a last minute sale for 24 hours. Make sure you clearly state how much time people have to lock in a product or service for that special price.

Discounts - How to Price Sale Items

There are various ways to price products - you can slash the original price (make sure subscribers know what the original price was so they can see you already applied a discount), offer a percentage or monetary discount, or offer the product at a discounted or preview price just for the sale and then go back to the original price afterwards if you plan to continue selling the product.

Craft email messages that clearly state discounts and sale prices. Include a description of the features and benefits of the product and a link to ordering pages.

Let Satisfied Customers Speak for You

If possible, include links to product reviews, and customer testimonials to get people really excited about the sale. Showcase the product to make people realize how special it is and how generous you are about offering it at a discounted price.

Your Sales Message

Email content should not only clearly outline the time frame, type of discount, and product features and benefits, it should also entice and entertain as necessary to really give people a reason to make a purchase now instead of waiting for the next sale. Hesitation from subscribers typically results in lowered profits because people forget to order, find a lower price for similar items, or change their minds when it comes to needing/wanting something.
