4 Ways to Build a Successful Email Marketing Campaign

March 12, 2013

Email marketing is some of the most powerful marketing you’ll find available to you. You’re able to retain readers, contact them at will, and send them bulk emails from your email blaster program. However, just because you have these powerful tools at your disposal, doesn’t mean there’s not a method to doing things correctly. Nobody wants to make the mistake of alienating their readers, so we’re going to go over 4 ways to build a successful email marketing campaign.

01) Utilize Auto Responder Software

Auto responders are powerful marketing tools that let you create a sequence of emails so that the moment somebody subscribes to your list, you can have your auto responder messages them. You want a “set and forget” approach to your new subscribers, giving them adequate content while giving you a hands-off ability to building trust.

02) Never Spam Your Readers

We all want money, but you should never abuse your mass email software by spamming your subscribers with promotions. Your readers need value, they need for you to give them something before you ask something from them. It’s basic sales; people want to buy from somebody they like, somebody they trust, and you need to position yourself so that you become that person. If you just start spamming promotions right out the gate, then your readers are going to either report your emails as spam, or simply unsubscribe from your mass email campaigns and want nothing to do with you. Moral of the story: don’t spam.

03) Give Before You Receive

Remember, the key word here is “value”. If you provide exceptional value, you’re going to have readers who love and trust you. You want a raving fanbase, and giving plenty of value, information, and advice is the ticket to getting there. If you give your subscribers information that normally they’d have to pay for, you’ll leave a powerful impact on them. When it comes time to send out promotions, if you got your subscribers to believe in you, then you’ll be the one they show it by investing in your promotions.

04) Track Your Results

Your bulk email application should come with the ability to track your open rates and the number of readers who click through the links within your messages. Tracking is important so you can learn what types of subject lines and content attracts more readers, and which seem not to draw any attention at all. For emails that have a poor response rate, you can adjust the content and headline accordingly until it’s getting the response you desire.

Now take these 4 ways to build a successful email marketing campaign and build a subscriber base that loves your content and loves your message.
