It always shocks me to hear that a company - whether it’s a brick-and-mortar retail store or a pure marketing outfit – doesn’t put much stock in mass email campaigns. It especially saddens me when I hear that these companies don’t do much marketing at all for “cost reasons,” or they rely on bargain-basement forms of traditional marketing. Unlimited email marketing makes so much sense for so many reasons.
Here are just four of the many reasons why you should be using email marketing:
1. Cost-effective – It’s nearly free to get ahold of an email blaster program and send emails to a virtually unlimited network of subscribers. And it’s nearly free to get those email addresses too, although sometimes promotions and special offers are necessary to sweeten the pot.
2. Easy – If you already employ marketers or just have some extra hands on deck, email marketing is likely the easiest form of marketing. It requires some writing ability (although you should have editors for that) and a small about of technical literacy. Now why aren’t you doing it again?
3. Precise – You can send as many emails as you’d like to as many people as you’d like, and you know that these people opted into your email list. That’s a huge benefit, but it gets even better when you consider that you can segment your email list into smaller groups and send emails directly tailored to these groups. It doesn’t get much more precise than that.
4. Profitable – When you consider that people are on their computers or smartphones almost all day and are constantly checking their emails, it’s easy to see why email marketing is so profitable. If a nearly-free email translates into even one sale, you’ve already made a profit. Considering that email clickthroughs are some of the largest drivers of company revenues today means that ROI on your email campaigns is huge. Get to it, ladies and gentlemen.
